About Me

My photo
I am a Contemporary Photographer specializing in Children, Families, Weddings, Seniors and Maternity.

Welcome to my Blog!

I am a photographer specializing in photo journalistic natural light photography. I truly fall in love with my subjects, whether it be the soft breathing of a newborn, the mischievous smile of a toddler, or the way a new bride and groom hold each other like it's the most natural thing in the world. I find myself seeing the beauty in every person I photograph, I believe it's my job to find what truly makes them sparkle and capture that. I am passionate about photography and I hope to share my passion with you.

I know it may be corny...

And baby makes 4

Since I last saw this family they have added a new handsome guy to the crew! Mom and dad definitely have making adorable boys down pat, they are obviously pros at it because look at how cute this little honey and his big brother are!! And his big brother that I photographed last year has grown so much, he's looking like such a big boy now, and he's a great big brother. I'm just nuts about him and now I've fallen hard for his little brother too! Way too sweet. :)

Oh and his dad's tats.... I am dying!! I have a thing about photographing tattoo's with kiddo's, I don't know what it is but something about a sweet fresh little one and a mom or dad with some cool ink, I just get all giddy because I know it's going to make for a pretty awesome shot.

August Texarkana Dates Announced!

Ok, I will be back in Texarkana the weekend of August 28-30th, I've already booked a few sessions for that weekend but I still have a few slots left so if you're interested just shoot me an e-mail!

These two are dear friends, I just love them. Oftentimes when I travel I end up staying in hotels, which is nice, I love hotels but sometimes it's nice to stay with someone you know so you sort of feel "at home" and when I head to Georgia for work I always stay with my great friend Tiffany (love her, and her kiddo's, they are all over my website, so dang cute :) and then I head to the Athens area and stay with Joe and Lindsay. Well, since the last time I was in Georgia this beautiful couple bought a new home! I just LOVE it, it's a stunning house, it's so huge and even has an amazing saltwater pool! It's really beautiful and I'm just beyond happy for the two of them. Joe is a professor at the University of Georgia and Lindsay is a Financial Advisor (and she has her CFP which even though I don't know much about finance I know that's a pretty big deal). They work really hard and are all around wonderful people so I'm just thrilled that they can enjoy this new home together (and that I have a great room to stay in and an awesome pool to swim in when I'm in Georgia, wink wink :)

Superstar

So this sweet girl has grown so much since I last photographed her. And she was just a BEAUTIFUL baby and now she has just blossomed into a beautiful little star! She was giving me all sorts of good smiles, it was like she was a baby zoolander, but she was working it for the camera without even trying. Normally little ones about this age are *over* me after about 45 minutes and then I really have to hustle to get some smiles and to even get them to look in my general direction (which is completely normal... I would get sick of me after about 15 minutes) but not little Gisele, she was just happy and smiling and playing the whole time, I was baffled. I think she and the camera have a very long and happy future ahead of them. :) And I'm pretty sure I know where she gets it from, mom is just way too beautiful, it should be illegal or something. And little Gisele has a baby brother on the way! I'm so excited for this beautiful family! Can't wait to meet the little guy!!

I have some more Georgia pics to share soon, I'm working on them!!

Southern Charm

This wedding was full of southern charm, it was held at the Agriculture Museum in Lubbock, Texas and when I drove up to the location I was floored, there were cool tractors and old farming equipment everywhere! I just loved how completely unique it was, to come off of shooting a wedding on the beach to shooting a wedding in west Texas with all this awesome farming equipment was so fun. I am so blessed to have a job that is always changing, it's so exciting to me. :)

Alyson and Luke chose this location not only because it's so unique and charming, but because Luke is a farmer, so how perfect is that? I felt like the wedding was so "them", down to the smallest detail, for example instead of birdseed everyone threw wheat as they left the wedding, *love*.

And they were such a joy to work with, they have a sweet quiet kind of love between them that is so pure and undeniable. They chose to do a first glance where they see each other for the first time alone, just the two of them (and of course myself to take a picture, or two, or three.. :) One of their first glance pics is below, I love that grin as he looks over his shoulder and sees her in her wedding dress for the first time, what a beautiful moment. :)

editing olympics

This week I have truly been editing like it's an olympic sport, I've been working on all the Daytona sessions and my Pensacola wedding, but I did manage to take a day away from editing and head to Austin for a shoot. I am really digging this kiddo, she's soooo stinking cute! And she was such a happy girl, all smiles and so fun and she kept calling my name which was about the cutest sound ever :) I love hearing little ones say my name, they always call me "ab or avie" or something like that, it kind of makes me sad when they actually figure it out and start calling me "avery". I chose these sneak peek pics REALLY quickly, normally I like to go through and try to pick out my favorites but I literally randomly opened 3 pics and edited them because I have to leave for Lubbock asap becasue I'm shooting a wedding there tomorrow. BUT, after seeing these 3 pics I'm pretty positive I'm going to be absolutely nuts over this session, I can't wait to dig into the rest!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

downpour

Ok, so last time I saw sweet Grady he was chillin, I could just set him where I wanted him and he wasn't walking around or anything he would just sit and look at me like "well, I guess I'm stuck here huh?" Well all that has changed, and I love it! He is not only walking the child is like a track star, he's fast! It was so fun chasing him around, he was his happiest running from me I think but I've chased a kiddo or two in my day so much to his dismay he couldn't shake me :) He's so cute, I didn't think he could get any cuter last time I saw him and he definitely proved me wrong. And the hotel that we stayed in was the same hotel that his mom and dad were married at so we took a family pic of them in the lobby area since they've added to their family now! The hotel was GORGEOUS, I just loved staying there and I was so glad Suzanne recommended it to me (not to mention I was right beside all of my clients which worked out perfectly).

This was the only session that we got any rain and when I say rain I mean it RAINED. We were on the beach shooting and Suzanne says "is that rain over there?" and you could see a sheet of rain coming down the beach straight at us, we started to head back up the hotel and barely made it under an awning before it just started pouring, the umbrella's for the tables outside were flying through the air, one almost nailed Suzanne's dad. There is restaurant seating outside and glasses were flying off the tables and breaking, it was like a hurricane or something, and then within about 15 minutes it was over! Craziness, but we were able to finish the session which made me happy :)

This is the last beach sneak peek! Whew! I've already sent some galleries out and I'll be finishing them up by tomorrow (fingers crossed, I may need to make a starbucks run to survive the night) :)

burning the midnight oil

I don't ever really use that phrase, I'm not sure why I just did... it's pretty late and I've been staring at the computer screen all day so you will have to forgive me in advance if this blog post makes no sense. :) I'm definitely working my hiney off to get all the beach galleries ready over the next couple of days. I'm sort of jumping around from gallery to gallery editing them because I feel like if I just work one straight through I may crush my creativity a little or something..... ok I have no idea what that means... basically there is no method to my madness, but either way it will get done. :)

Ok so now on to these brothers. I really adore these guys, I've photographed them 4 different times now. They are each so different and I love that about them. Tyler, the oldest is quiet and serious, I think he's one of those kids that has a lot going on in his head, he's definitely smart and it's so sweet to see how patient he is with his younger brothers. I know most of the time at the session's I'm barking orders at poor Tyler like "ok hold Reid up a little higher, now move your chin, now lean towards Gaven" and he always takes it in stride.

Gaven, the middle guy is a total clown, he loves to laugh and cut up, and he always tries his best to give me a good smile, but my favorite smiles of his are the ones that he's not trying to give, the ones that just happen. He really looks up to his big brother, you can tell... and he loves his little brother. Oh and he's pretty ticklish. :)

Reid is the youngest and he's just the perfect kind of stubborn, the kind that's endearing and cute. He's not interested in being talked into doing something he doesn't want to do (actually he's a lot like me :), but when he's truly enjoying himself his smile is about the best thing you've ever seen. He makes the cutest expressions sometimes that just make me chuckle behind my camera, you can't help but want to just scoop him up. :)

Oh and of course these three boys have pretty fantastic parents, the kind of people you meet and instantly feel like you've known them forever. So I think they deserve at least a little credit for raising 3 pretty awesome guys.

Photography by Cameron

This cutie pie Cameron (with the AMAZING blue eyes) has a future in modeling, or photography, I'm not sure which...maybe both. He was so adorable and he would say "so is this one for the magazine?" when I was photographing him. He's so cute he should be in magazines, he looks like a little gap model for sure. And not only was he rocking it out with the modeling but he LOVED to take pictures, he was just begging for my camera, so I handed it over and let him take a few pictures and he's good! He took one of me, I'll post it below. That camera is HEAVY and he managed to hold it up and center me and get the shot just perfectly :)

And I just have to say I am LOVING that dress Ashleigh is wearing, girl's lookin hawt!!

I'm working on more beach sneak peeks! I'm just randomly putting memory cards into the computer and then sneak peeking which ever session it is, it's kind of like a nice surprise every time :) But I'll be sneak peeking more today!

more coming

I know some of you are anxiously waiting on your beach sessions and they will be up over the next couple of days! I actually was in Austin today for a session and JUST got back to my house (it's midnight, I got stuck in traffic) :) But tomorrow I'm going to work on posting as many sneak peeks and I can and getting all the beach galleries up by Friday. I'll be in touch with you all soon!!

Bow down to Rae

Rae is this beautiful little honey's mom, and to say I love Rae is an understatement, I like adore Rae. She is funny and cool (and of course stunning) and she is also a photographer's dream because she is like the prop MASTER. Flying to Daytona I didn't exactly have space to bring any props with me, which was totally fine because if the location is cool enough (which the beach obviously is) then you don't' really need any, but then Rae showed up to the beach with all sorts of things I didn't even KNOW I needed but then suddenly I really really NEEDED them for the shoot! Can you believe that tutu?? Seriously, I am dying... and here's the best part...after the session she GAVE me 3 adorable paper umbrella's (like the pink one below) and some to die for headbands with flowers on them. I love her, like for real, and it doesn't hurt that her sweet Lillie is about the cutest thing ever to walk the beach. :)
